Daily Exposure to Household Toxins
Not everything we absorb and are exposed to is good for us. It’s the same with companion birds. No matter how well the vegetables fed to pet birds are cleaned, it’s not possible to remove all of the fungus and bacteria off of them. Should companion birds chew on wood toys, branches, or perches, they may pick up fungi, more bacteria, tannins in the wood, or a few other undesirables along the way.Cal-clay has the ability to pass through the birds system, pick up and hold all of these impurities and safely carry it out in their waste.Cal-clay will not undo a severe toxic exposure – but will help birds deal with the casual exposure that often goes undetected in everyday life.
Hidden Danger of Food and Feed in Aviculture – Mycotoxins
A mycotoxicosis is a disease caused by a natural toxin produced by a fungus. In aviculture, this usually results when toxin-producing fungi grow in grain and feed. Hundreds of mycotoxins have been identified, and many are pathogenic. Mycotoxins may have additive or synergistic effects with other natural toxins, infectious agents, and nutritional deficiencies. Many are chemically stable and maintain toxicity over time.
Microbiological contamination with mycotoxins in raw material and finished feed will result in:
* Loss of nutritive value
* Change in physical properties
*Contamination with pathogens.
*Reduced palatability.
* Presence of Mycotoxins.
* Poor immune status.
* Reduced production.
Carefully selected mineral clay along with activated charcoal are effective in binding toxins and inhibiting Moulds.

Activated charcoal is a potent natural treatment used to trap toxins and chemicals in the body, allowing them to be flushed out so the body doesn’t reabsorb them. It’s made from a variety of sources.
Feeding Guide: As a daily supplement: mix or sprinkle 1 teaspoon of Cal-clay onto your bird’s favorite greens, vegetables and/or fruits. Moist food helps ensure the absorption of the clay, which increases the likelihood that the supplement is consumed. Alternatively, you can sprinkle or mix up to 2 teaspoons with extruded pellets or seeds. You can also sprinkle a small quantity on the bottom of the cage. Replenish the supplement at least 3 times/week. Replace when soiled.
